Join us on Saturday, March 8th at 7 PM for a conversation with Alicia Jeffrey-Thomas, pelvic floor physical therapist and author of Power to the Pelvis. Led by Kathy Kates, this discussion will challenge the taboos around pelvic health. Together, they’ll explore the inspiration behind Alicia’s book and highlight common pelvic floor issues that can arise before having children, during pregnancy, postpartum, around menopause, or at any stage of life. All are welcome to this event, as pelvic floor concerns affect people of all genders—women, men, trans, and nonbinary folks alike—because everyone has a pelvic floor!

ABOUT ALICIA JEFFREY-THOMAS
Alicia has been a pelvic floor physical therapist since 2016 and treats people of all genders in the greater Boston area. She isn’t one to shy away from taboo topics. From bladder problems to bowel movements to sex, Alicia is always game to talk through the dirty details to help patients figure out what’s going on “down there.” To this end, she has created and directed multiple social media channels where she spreads evidence-based pelvic health information in humorous and relatable ways. Her page, @thepelvicdancefloor, has over one million combined followers, between Instagram and TikTok. She and her content have been featured in podcasts, magazines and blogs, and on television. When she’s not seeing patients or making content, Alicia can be found reading her never-ending stack of romantasy novels or hunting for treasure at local thrift stores. Although born and raised in Florida, she now lives in Boston with her husband and their dog.

ABOUT KATHY KATES
Kathy Kates is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and founder of Pelvic Health Support. Kathy helps patients with sexual, pelvic, and hormone health concerns go from feeling ashamed and confused about symptoms (sexual pain, pelvic pain, low libido) and not heard by their healthcare provider to becoming proud, confident, educated, and empowered to flourish with their sexual, pelvic and hormone health. After completing her training at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professions, she ran a sexual and reproductive health program at a large medical institution for over a decade. After going through treatment for breast cancer, Kathy focused her learning on the science of sexual health—especially sexual pain, pelvic pain, low libido/hypoactive sexual desire disorder, and hormone imbalances. Kathy completed additional training through the Herbert Benson Mind Body Institute to integrate the art of mindfulness into her practice.
Kathy co-founded the Institute for Pelvic Health to provide pelvic health education to healthcare providers.
