On Thursday, Nov. 16, up to 200 young professionals will head to Back Bay Social Club and roll up their sleeves to participate in Playworks New England’s 10th annual Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament. Proceeds from the event will benefit the nonprofit’s youth development programming, which includes using the game of Rock, Paper, Scissors as a conflict resolution tool for students during recess, in more than 100 elementary schools across the region.
Playworks New England is building a recess movement. The regional branch of a national nonprofit integrates physical activity and social and emotional learning skill-building into organized activities during recess to create a space where students feel included, are active, and build valuable social and emotional skills needed to thrive in the classroom and beyond. Entering its 12th year, Playworks New England serves 50,000 students in more than 100 elementary schools across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. To date, the nonprofit has served 210,000 youth.
Tickets range from $30 to $100. One standard ticket enters participants into the tournament and gives one 4th or 5th grade girl the opportunity to participate in the Playworks New England Girls’ Basketball League for free this winter. Guests will enjoy free appetizers and a cash bar and can enter for a chance to win locally-donated raffle and silent auction items.
Playworks New England’s 10th annual Rock, paper, Scissors tournament will take place on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Back Bay Social Club, located at 867 Boylston Street in Boston. The Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament will begin at 7:30 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit: https://www.playworks.org/new-england/event/rock-paper-scissors-tournament/
