On May 3 Phoenix finishes their Parlor Series season at the Roslindale Substation’s Workhub with a pair of firsts: The world premiere of the first commission from their partnership with the composition department at New England Conservatory, by composer Binna Kim, and their first ever performance in Boston’s Roslindale neighborhood.
Phoenix’s Parlor Series re-imagines your favorite coffee shop or brewery completely transformed by a night of chamber music, taking the full Phoenix experience, distilling it to the essentials, bringing it out of the concert hall and into your favorite Boston locales. Listeners get closer to the music than ever as small chamber groups present intimate, unforgettable shows with unexpected backdrops. Drinks at this Parlor Series concert will be served by Phoenix’s spirit partner, Bully Boy Distillers.
The world premiere by Binna Kim joins the program with joyous and whimsical works by Carl Nielsen and Gioachino Rossini: Nielsen’s “Serenata in Vano” and Rossini’s “Gran Duo for Cello and Double Bass.”
