Who: Phoebe Legere is an Acadian-Abenaki poet singer-songwriter multi-instrumentalist born in Massachusetts on July 4. A Juilliard-trained composer, she "sings highly intelligent lyrics in a voice that soars!" (Washington Post)
Legere sang with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, debuted at Carnegie Hall as a pianist-composer, and has played all over the world. Legere is a tradition keeper who sings traditional and original songs in Abenaki, French, and English. She was the "Grand Duchess of the Blues" with her own show at drive time on Sirius Radio.
Legere has recorded seventeen albums. After seeing the video for Legere's original college radio hit song "Marilyn Monroe" David Bowie invited Legere to open for him on his national Sound and Vision tour. Legere's recent album Heart of Love went to #18 on the National Americana/Roots chart. Her soundtrack for Toxic Avenger 2 and 3 in which she starred as the beloved, blind, accordion playing girlfriend of Toxie, will be released on Ship to Shore Records, in September 2023. Toxic Avenger, the first environmental superhero, is one of the top 10 cult movies of all time.
Legere is also a multi-disciplinary artist whose paintings are in major collections and museums. See her paintings at www.phoebelegere.com Her music is on Spotify, Itunes, Amazon, Instagram, Tiktok, Bandcamp, and Youtube.
