Join the Boston Public Library in partnership with Beacon Hill Village for this online talk with Peter Wayne, PhD, and Julia Loewenthal, MD, as part of our Living Well, Ending Well series.
The Osher Clinic for Integrative Medicine treats the whole patient, not just a particular disease. Promoting healthy aging and resilience, rather than just preventing decline, is an important goal for all older individuals. Integrative health care brings together both conventional and complementary approaches to health, often in multimodal systems such as tai chi, yoga, and others. Drs. Peter Wayne and Julia Loewenthal will discuss the Osher Center’s clinical use of and latest research on integrative therapies in older adults, including the promotion of healthy aging and prevention of disease and specific geriatric issues.
Peter Wayne, PhD, is Director of the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine in Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. His research evaluates how mind-body and related integrative medicine practices clinically impact aging and chronic health conditions.
Julia Loewenthal, MD, is a geriatrician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Clinically, Dr. Loewenthal promotes healthy aging in leading geriatric co-management programs at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
