''Somewhere between Brooklyn and Muscle Shoals this poet's ears took seed of the soul. We are Juju Seahorse... peacemakers of Spoken Music.''

The Creative Music Series welcomes a singular and dynamic band, whose sound centers on the words and voice of this most unique American poet. His celebrated bandmates have performed with Cecil Taylor, Dionne Warkick, Henry Rollins, Charles Gayle, and George Clinton. Together Juju Seahorse deliver an experience deeply rooted in sound and human experience.

Paul r. Harding was born in New York City and attended college in Buffalo, NY, where he was tutored by saxophonists Archie Shepp and Charles Gayle. He has published poetry and fiction with Theos Press, Aurius Unlimited, Black Renaissance Noire; Transition 112, Obsidian: Literature & Arts in the African Diaspora, Konch, Coon Bidness, Berkeley Poetry Review, Raven Chronicles and various anthologies. Paul has manuscripts in libraries at UC Berkeley, and the University of West Indies. He has been awarded the Philip Whalen Memorial Grant for poetry and the Edith K. Draham Scholarship for fiction. He has performed with Charles Gayle, Ravi Coltrane, Joe Ford, and Michael Bisio among others. Paul is completing a manuscript of short poems and researching first non-fiction project, Race and Heroism in Hollywood: Die Like a Man.

"A pure expression of a linguistic analog to jazz.’’ (Matthew Shipp, They Tried to Kill Me Yesterday)
