"Unencumbered by what has been and unafraid of new frontiers, you remind us that what...defines us above all—has always been our unwavering belief
in the possibilities of the future." –President Barack Obama to a Partakers' Graduate
Partakers College Behind Bars Mentoring Program has been chosen as a Community Partner by the Longwood Symphony Orchestra, and their Healing Art of Music Program, for a special evening of music and celebration at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall on March 9.
Partakers is a small, unique, not for profit organization based in Newton, MA celebrating over 20 years of "transforming lives and building futures".
Partakers is working to help reduce recidivism by promoting higher education and providing community mentoring for incarcerated women and men. Through their College Behind Bars Mentoring Program, Partakers profoundly impacts the lives of students, their mentors, their families, and their community. Partakers teams with more than 40 organizations that include over 550 community volunteers from The Greater Boston Area who are currently mentoring incarcerated college students.
Students who have graduated from the Partakers College Behind Bars Program show a 2% recidivism rate compared with an average national rate of 68%.
By supporting Partakers you will be an integral part of an organization that is helping to build futures of hope, while changing the path of so many that otherwise would never have the opportunity to realize their potential.
On this Special Night Partakers will also be Joyously Honoring their Dear Friends of
The Community of Temple Israel of Boston for their leadership and unwavering commitment to transformative social justice, helping everyday to create a more welcoming, equitable and just world.
