The second part of Papercuts and the Loring-Greenough House's author series features two novelists whose work blends history, mystery, and richly developed characters. Juliet Grames's debut novel, of The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna, received Italy’s Premio Cetraro for contribution to Southern Italian literature, and was shortlisted for the New England Book Award and the Connecticut Book Award. Her latest, The Lost Boy of Santa Chionia, published in July 2024, returns to mid-twentieth century Italy for a story that's part small town murder mystery, part timeless portrait of a young woman in search of a meaningful life. Jessica Shattuck is the author of four bestselling, award-winning novels including The Woman in the Castle, which was a New York Times Bestseller, a #1 Indie Next Pick, and the winner of The New England Book Award; and The Hazards of Good Breeding which was a New York Times Notable Book, a Boston Globe Editor’s Choice Best Book of the Year, and a finalist for the 2003 PEN/Winship Award. Her latest, Last House, which was published in May 2024 and follows many generations of one family across eighty years. This event will be held at the Loring-Greenough House (12 South Street, Jamaica Plain MA 02130), just down the street from our shop!
