About the Artist
A professional watercolorist for 25 years, Page changed her medium to acrylics about 15 years ago. Over the last decade, she has dedicated her talents to this new style, she paints landscapes, cityscapes and still-lifes. Railsback, a resident of the south shore community for many years, lives in Scituate. She has received many awards around the south shore of Boston. Page is also a Yoga Teacher.
Page says: "I begin each day with a fresh start, with what I refer to as “Beginners Mind”. I go to my studio and let the work begin, continue or unfold. I paint in plein-air but find myself more satisfied with studio work. I travel frequently and have always enjoyed creatively setting up studio space however small, wherever I am. I divide my time between Massachusetts, Mexico and California. Travel offers me the opportunity to transcend my own self-imposed limits. My work is a loose interpretation of what I see or feel and is becoming more and more abstract. I like to work alone. I work mostly with acrylics, and charcoal and occasionally with oils. I like the quick drying of acrylics and find the medium safer health wise and very flexible to work with. I like to experiment with my markings depending on the different surfaces I am using. I make the application with brushes, palette knife, rags or my hands. My painting is a metaphor for my life. As life brings change and new cycles, my work reflects this change as well as growth, transformation and a sense of freedom. My teaching and paintings come from my spiritual ‘heart work’ expressing joy, peace and optimism that I offer to the viewer."
