Horizons for Homeless Children, a non-profit dedicated to improve the lives of homeless children in Massachusetts, is seeking volunteers to play with children living in family homeless shelters in the Northeast region of Massachusetts, including shelters in Lowell, Lawrence, Haverhill, Gloucester, Salem, Peabody, Lynn, Malden, Revere, Chelsea, and Medford. There are also opportunities across the state.
A commitment of 2 hours per week for 6 months is required. Some daytime hours are available but shifts are primarily evening hours, Monday through Thursday. Please call (978) 557-2182 or visit www.horizonschildren.org to apply online.
Horizons hosts PAL Orientations across the state, throughout the year. The next orientation in the Northeast Region will be on Saturday January 11th from 10:00 AM 12:30 PM at Saugus Public Library, 295 Central Street, Saugus, MA. If you cannot make this particular orientation, we will have more orientation opportunities.
Volunteers must fill out an application and attend a 2 1/2-hour Playspace Activity Leader Orientation in order to volunteer with Horizons for Homeless Children. We also run background checks and complete reference checks.
All Playspace Activity Leaders must be at least 18 years old to volunteer on their own or be 16 years old and accompanied by parent or guardian during their shift.
If you have any questions about this opportunity, please call 978-557-2182 or email us at [email protected].
