John Vinton is a painter working from his studio in Boston’s South End. Vinton paints in layers of earthy greens, browns, and atmospheric blues with subtle visual cues that suggest a landscape.


Vinton uses abstraction to evoke the feeling of a place- the sense of sun-bleached dunes, rocky shores, visceral feeling of sea spray whipping through the wind. He is interested in an emotional response created through his choice of colors and textures and the memories and feeling we associate them with.
