Fingerstyle Ukulele (Spring 2021)
Prerequisites: ability to read tablature (tabs) and fingerpick with PIMA fingers.
You will produce a sweeter sound from your ukulele when you learn correct left-hand fingering, amp up your switching dexterity, and master right-hand techniques in fingerstyle. Also known as fingerpicking or plucking, fingerstyle empowers you to play the melody, riffs, and licks in a song. You’ll also learn to accompany songs with popular picking patterns. This path leads to chord melody arrangements, solo playing, and instrumental ensemble performance, from duets to larger groups.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Anne Ku is the author of a new 110-page book on the ukulele and has taught music at the University of Hawaii Maui College. With degrees in music from the UK and the Netherlands, she founded the ukulele movement in Historic Lower Mills and performs in the Boston Guitar Orchestra.
