On the Same Page is an inclusive book campaign bringing diverse books to Boston Public Schools. Donate to our virtual book campaign starting March 26, 2020! Everyone deserves the opportunity to be part of a story!
On the Same Page is dedicated to creating inclusive book donation campaigns that allow donors to purchase books from an Amazon wish list that features stories about diverse characters. The books are sent directly to the schools that need them. The impact is both immediate and ongoing, allowing generations of children to see themselves in stories.
We are excited to be partnering with this year’s recipient, New Mission High School, to help bring inclusive books to their students in grades 7-12. Research shows “only 13 percent of children’s books published in the last 24 years contain multicultural content” (Lee & Low Books 2017) and “90 percent report that when kids see themselves in books, they are far more likely to be enthusiastic readers" (Scholastic Blog).
Social justice and equity in reading material is the reason this campaign was created.
This campaign is run by Emerson College students enrolled in the Nonprofit Fundraising class.
