NUBIAN NIGHTS: The Sights and Sounds of Jazz in Roxbury,” a three-week virtual multi-media experience which launches on Friday, March 26th and will run on three successive weekends through April 11th on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 7:00 – 10:00pm. The free 1-hour installation will integrate sound and illumination at three of the district’s up-and-coming cultural anchors: Jazz Urbane Café in the Bruce Bolling Building, Black Market, and the Nubian Gallery. All three spaces are located on Washington Street in Nubian Square and the installation will be visible and audible from the street, thanks to cutting edge laser projection technology, window art, outdoor speakers and lights. Covid-19 safety protocols will be in place.
“Nubian Nights” is a unique partnership between the RCD, Jazz Urbane Café’, Black Market, Nubian Gallery and Female-led production team of MF Dynamics and Hersch Visuals. Featuring musical performances by Jazz Urbane’s internationally renowned roster of musicians, multimedia art exhibitions and dynamic, transformative, projected visual displays “Nubian Nights” highlights the enduring legacy of jazz music throughout the District.
