Nozama Dance Collective Presents “Uplift”

In times of struggle, women must support one another. In times of triumph, we must celebrate one another. When we support and uplift one another, we can reach heights we never previously imagined. This is what drives “Uplift”, the fourth annual modern dance concert produced by Nozama Dance Collective. The concert will include raw, powerful works that surround the themes of the female experience and the female empowerment movement, specifically depicting women who ignite and uplift one another. The concert will include guest artist performances by Hannah Ranco, Evolve Dynamicz, B-A-R Dance, and the Boston Community Dance Project. A Q&A Session will be hosted by Nicole Harris of Monkeyhouse Inc. after the Saturday evening performance.
As a part of the “Uplift” festival, free workshops will take place on Friday, August 9th from 2-5pm as well as Saturday, August 10th from 9-12pm. These workshops will be taught by Nozama Dance Collective, as well as the guest artists of “Uplift” and female-identifying choreographers and company directors in the Boston area. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Festivals Program, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Nozama is proud to receive fiscal sponsorship from Monkeyhouse Inc.

All workshops will take place in Studio 2 at Green Street Studios. Dancers of all levels are invited to these free workshops. The schedule for the workshops is below:
Friday, August 9th
2-3pm: OnStage Dance Company, taught by Jennifer Kuhnberg
3-4pm: B-A-R Dance
4-5pm: Nozama Dance Collective

Saturday, August 10th
9-10am: Mariah Rasmussen
10-11am: Evolve Dynamicz
11-12pm: Boston Community Dance Project
