Haydn's Mass in B-Flat Major and Schubert Mass No. 5 in A-Flat Major, with Orchestra and Outstanding Soloists.
The Newton Community Chorus, now in its 38th season, performs its annual Winter concert on Saturday, January 26th at 8 pm, at First Baptist Church, 848 Beacon Street, Newton Centre. The chorus will perform Haydn's Mass in B-Flat Major, and Schubert's Mass. No. 5 in A-Flat Major, with noted soloists: Deborah Selig, soprano; Rebecca Krouner, mezzo-soprano; Gregory Zavracky, tenor and Jorgeandres Carmago, bass. The orchestra and chorus are led by NCC music director, Richard Travers.
The Newton Community Chorus has been a regional musical institution, growing from a small group for parents and teachers of students at the Underwood School in Newton Corner in 1981, performing show tunes and folk songs, to a large-scale chorus that presented major choral works with orchestra and professional soloists. It's dedicated volunteer members are dedicated to and ongoing commitment to professionalism and high-quality live performance.
