Please join New England Conservatory's (NEC) Community Performances and Partnerships (CPP) Holiday Ensemble Fellows for a program filled with musical cheer!
This performance will feature June Chung on violin, David Carreon on violin, Elton Tai on viola, and Joanne Hwang on cello.
This 45-minute program will include songs for the season we hope you will enjoy. A 15-minute audience Q&A will follow the concert.
Passionate about arts administration and community engagement, June Chung has been an Ensemble Fellow under NEC’s CEPS department, bringing string quartet programs to seniors homes in and around Boston. She was also selected to be a Nova Fellow from the Entrepreneurial Musicianship program and as part of a team, produced two school-wide events on campus to bring the NEC community together.
David Carreon's introduction to the violin was in fact credit to his piano teacher, Ms. Cheryl Mason, who had always believed in the importance of learning a second instrument. He is currently undertaking a Master’s degree in Performance at the New England Conservatory under the tutelage of Professor Kristopher Tong. He is also a recipient of both the NEC Dean’s Scholarship and George and Margaret Henderson Scholarship.
Born in Houston, Texas, Elton Tai began violin at the age of 9 years old and switched to viola at the age of 16 years old. He currently studies at the New England Conservatory of Music with Marcus Thompson. He had briefly studied with James Dunham at Rice University in preparation for his college auditions.
Joanne Hwang is currently completing her first year of her Master’s degree at New England Conservatory under the tutelage of Professor Yeesun Kim. She is also the recipient of the NEC Dean’s Scholarship for her studies.
This program is presented by the Boston Public Library as part of our Never Too Late Group created with older adults in mind. Due to the ample seating available in the Rabb Lecture Hall, registration is not required; instead, seating is first come, first served.
