Join students from New England Conservatory's Contemporary Musical Arts program for a lively afternoon of Klezmer-inspired music performed by the Global Yiddish Ensemble. There will be 15 minutes for audience Q&A after the concert.
The Global Yiddish Orchestra is a contemporary ensemble comprising students from the New England Conservatory who specialize in instruments and folk traditions from around the world—Yoona Kim (Ajaeng) from Korea, Itay Dayan (clarinet) from Israel, George Maclaurin (piano) from New Zealand, and Roman Barten-Sherman (banjo) from Arizona.
The Global Yiddish Orchestra formed through a shared enthusiasm for the musical beauty and expressive power of Klezmer music. Through their collaboration, they have discovered how Klezmer can bring together people from distant places, and hope to make music that celebrates diversity and encourages cross-cultural dialogues!
The Global Yiddish Orchestra is:
Roman Barten-Sherman (Banjo)
Yoona Kim (Ajeng)
Itay Dayan (Clarinet)
George McLaren (Piano)
