Local nonprofit Operation P.E.A.C.E. (Partnerships in Education And Community Enrichment) announces it’s annual National Night Out event in the Fenway neighborhood. The Fenway block party event will include food, drinks and entertainment from local vendors. DJ RollingRick will be on site to provide music and Wally, the Red Sox mascot will also be in attendance.
National Night Out is an event that seeks to enhance relationships between neighbors and law enforcement, while bringing back a true sense of community. Events are held in communities around the country, and typically take place at the start of August. The goal is for neighborhood block party events to provide police and community members the opportunity to interact in a positive environment.
Prior to the Fenway event, local artist Julia Roth worked with Operation P.E.A.C.E. and land-owners Cabot, Cabot and Forbes (CC&F) and CIM Group to design a mural for the side of the Kilmarnock Street store fronts facing the alley. Roth will paint the entire wall on Monday, August 12, outline the mural on August 13 and finish the mural on August 14 with the community’s participation. The final mural will be celebrated at the event.
Additionally, local businesses and non-profit organizations will have booths with giveaways and activities, and t-shirts commemorating the event will also be available. Cabot, Cabot, & Forbes (CC&F) and CIM Group, and Nickerson PR will also be sponsoring the event.
