Built on the former Boston-Maine branch of the Hollis corridor, the Nashua River Rail Trail is a round-trip wonder of 24.8 miles that includes a deciduous border along the majority of the path. Several wetlands also dot the journey with many possibilities to see birds, turtles, and other wildlife along the way. Our journey will begin in Nashua with a mid-point in Ayer and then a return back to Nashua. We can take breaks along the way for coffee/snacks/views as needed and desired.
This bike trip is rated as moderate due to the number of miles of biking required.
If you have your own bike, you may bring it with, and we will attempt to accommodate you. However, if there is no room for your bike, you must be ready to rent a bicycle.
Gear
Bring closed-toe shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, one liter of water, snacks, and bug spray. Also bring comfortable shorts or athletic pants; we do not recommend jeans. Have a light jacket on hand in case of wind.
