N+T is asking big questions and confronting a monumental moment.
Our work producing thought provoking public art in Boston has always been a tangible expression of curiosity, creative problem solving, and social inquiry. And at this time of physical distancing and public retreat, we know it is critical to continue to activate people around these pillars of public art. So, as we watch the landscape of public life shift before our eyes, we’re hoping to combat the uncertainty and overwhelm of the unknown by launching a live, online conversation series, “N+T Asks”.
The series will launch on Zoom on Friday, April 3 and is designed to create a supportive, proactive space for artists, cultural sector workers, community leaders, and, of course, the public to come together to ask and reflect on the many questions facing us at this monumental moment.
Each session will feature a 30-minute conversation with a pair of special guests, facilitated by a member of the N+T team followed by a 30-minute open discussion that allows for learning, exchange, and questions, from the participants. Sessions will be hosted live and recordings will be posted to our blog, the N+T Journal.

N+T ASKS: WHAT DOES ‘PUBLIC’ MEAN RIGHT NOW?
Our first conversation will be April 3 at 12:30pm and will reflect on how we as a city create public space, community and togetherness through public art. We'll start with the questions: what does "public" mean right now? And how can we be in public despite physical distancing? We’ll think out loud with special guests, artist and N+T Alum, Silvia López Chavez and our friend and colleague Kim Szeto, Program Director, Public Art at New England Foundation for the Arts.
