Here we are at Episode FOUR, eight weeks into life during a global pandemic and subsequently, our livestreaming concert adventures. It's hard to believe this has become our new way of life. Should we celebrate, cry, throw all the newspapers away forever, sew more face masks, bake more sourdough bread? Let's choose to CELEBRATE together next Monday night, May 18th, at 8pm!
This episode's theme comes from Czech composer Antonin Dvorak's gypsy song "Songs My Mother Taught Me." In this Quarantine Edition, we will be exploring music that has been passed down through generations of people and cultures, from flamenco, to Portuguese Fado, to English folk ballads, to Mexican folk songs....and more! We promise an evening of joy, no matter what your personal tastes are :)
If you are tuning in for the first time, all the music that we play is arranged for our particular instruments (oboe and marimba) by the two of us, the oboist and the marimba player. If you need a diversion, a reminder of what live music sounds like, some happy entertainment, or just some more oboe and marimba in your life, please join us in this musical experience (and experiment!) As always, feel free to spread the word, and to email us your musical requests at: [email protected]
Tickets are $5, and once you have purchased a ticket, you will be sent an email with a private link to the YouTube livestream address, where you may view the concert next Monday at 8pm, EST.
