Gore Place, the Federal period, historic house and estate of Massachusetts Governor Christopher Gore, hosts a live music series every Wednesday evening in September. The elegantly furnished mansion has been called “the Monticello of the North” and architectural historians consider it to be the most significant Federal period mansion in New England.
Wednesday, September 4: Roberto Cassan & John Muratore
Highly-acclaimed classical guitarist John Muratore and internationally known accordionist Roberto Cassan perform their own arrangements of classical and contemporary music, which combine the intimacy of chamber music with the spontaneity of jazz. Their repertoire, which ranges from traditional European classical to contemporary American, Latin American, tango, folk and jazz-influenced compositions, displays the diversity of their musical interests and influences. $10
Wedneday, September 11: Classical guitarist Santiago Diaz
The Boston Globe wrote “He’s a really spectacular player. The combination of his technique and his passionate performance is really not to be missed.” Santiago Diaz will thrill you with his brilliant interpretation of classical and romantic music arranged for solo guitar. $15
Wednesday, September 18: Bill Staines
Composer David Amram recently described Bill as “...a modern day Stephen Foster…his songs will be around 100 years from now.” Bill has been all around the country singing his original songs and covering the great American folk songs since his early days in the 60s at Club 47...a true original! $15
Wedneday, September 25: O'Carolan Etcetera
This wonderful trio of guitar, flute, fiddle ( and sometimes hurdy-gurdy) performs selections from three centuries of traditional instrumental music: early English dance tunes that Jane Austen would have known; Irish jigs and Scottish airs; reels from old New England that set toes a-tapping; and — not to be missed — French Canadian tunes played on the hurdy gurdy. $10
