About Moving in Community:
All movers welcome. Beginning with a juicy yoga inspired warm up and a meditative sound bath, this improvisation composition class will merge writing, improv, and community sharing. After warming up and within ourselves, each other, and the space, movers will complete a writing & movement meditation. Movers will exchange ideas, words, and movement phrases, leading up to an improvisational score, all while moving in community.
This workshop is a part of the Dance Complex’s Reflection, Healing, and Movement series.
About CJ Donohoe:
From CJ: "I have a deep interest in art accessibility, devised performance, and queering theatre & dance. I am a performing artist, early childhood and elementary school dance and acting teacher, and arts administrator particularly interested in community theatre and dance making, performing arts for social change, and K-12 and public free arts education. My work as an artist and educator centers community and process, and I am particularly interested in working with folks who do not necessarily consider themselves a 'dancer', 'performer', or 'artist’, questioning those understood definitions. I use props, lighting, moment work, and storytelling to create a sensorial experience and devise dance theatre that elicits release, joy, and deep thought in collaborators and audiences."
