On Saturday, Sept 7, 10AM (rain date September 14), the public is invited to a special ceremony in The Old Buying Ground to dedicate a new Monument to Fallen Crown Soldiers Who Died on April 19, 1775 — one among the many Town projects commemorating the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and Arlington’s (then Menotomy’s) significant role in it.
Learn about the 40 British regulars who died in Menotomy as they retreated from Lexington and Concord and were buried here in an uinmarked mass grave.
This event is presented by the Town of Arlington Arlington250 Comittee in collaboration with Arlington Historical Society, Arlington Commission for Arts & Culture (ArtsArlington), British and Commonwealth Remembrance Committee, and Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area.
