On Sunday, August 21, 1–3 PM, join Gallery 263 Artist-in-Residence Mike Howat for a FREE two-hour workshop in mixed media, combining drawing and painting with a focus on everyday subjects. Sometimes the most seemingly mundane things can make for the most interesting art. Participants will look for inspiration in the area surrounding the gallery and work with architecture and scenes that they find interesting. All skill levels are welcome! (Basic drawing and painting skills will be addressed.) Ideas of mark-making and expression will also be discussed.


Attendees are encouraged to bring their own mixed media materials and substrates (paper, canvas, etc.). Please note: only dry and water-based materials (acrylic paint, markers, colored pencils, pastels, pencils, charcoal etc.) are allowed. A $10 materials fee will apply to those who need materials.
