Start off the New Year with Sunday Concert Series performances by violinist Miriam Fried and pianist Jonathan Biss at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. The January 8 and January 15 performances by the mother - son duo are part of a two-part series.
Miriam Fried, an internationally praised violinist, is recognized by Musical America for her “fiery intensity and emotional depth” and “technical mastery.” Fried has performed with nearly every major U.S. and European orchestras, as well as major music centers internationally. As a recitalist, concerto soloist, and chamber musician, Fried continues to perform with principal orchestras worldwide.
Her son, pianist Jonathan Biss, is an equally praised and enthusiastic chamber musician and soloist. Biss has performed with principal orchestras worldwide, and has collaborated with a number of leading musicians.
Oh January 8, Fried and Biss will perform the program Bartók & Schumann Project, Part 1 of 2, which will feature: Schumann, Sonata No. 1 / Schumann, Three Romances / Bartók, Sonata No. 1.
On January 15, Fried and Biss will perform the program Bartók & Schumann Project, Part 2 of 2, which will feature: Schumann, Gesänge der Frühe / Bartók, Sonata No. 2 / Schumann, Sonata No. 2.
Often a sell-out event, the Sunday Concert Series will take place on Sunday, January 8 at 1:30 p.m. in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum’s Calderwood Hall, located at 25 Evans Way, Boston, Mass. Tickets are required, which may be purchased in advance or at the door, and include Museum admission. Please note new ticket prices for the Sunday Concert Series:
