Ring in the Year of the Tiger at the MFA! Stop by on Saturday, February 5, and celebrate the Lunar New Year by exploring Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese art from our collection—including works on view in the exhibition “Weng Family Collection of Chinese Painting: Travel and Home.”
Lunar New Year is celebrated across Asia and around the world. This year, the holiday, which is based on the cycles of the moon, marks the Year of the Tiger, one of the 12 animals of the lunar Zodiac.
Events and Activities:
– Take-Home Art Kits
10 am–3 pm
Lower Rotunda
Pick up an art kit with everything needed to create your own dragon puppet in celebration of Lunar New Year. Kits available while supplies last.
– MFA Job Fair
10 am–5 pm
Shapiro Family Courtyard
Learn about engaging, dynamic, and fun career opportunities at the MFA and find out how you can apply to work at one of the world’s renowned art museums.
– Chinese Lion Dance
11 am, Noon, and 1 pm
Performances take place throughout the Museum, ending in Shapiro Family Courtyard
Don’t miss three chances to see Wah Lum Kung Fu & Tai Chi Academy lead a traditional lion dance parade throughout the MFA. Lion dances are performed during Lunar New Year to bring great health, good luck, and happiness.
Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination Required
All visitors age 12 and older are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enter the Museum in accordance with the City of Boston’s mandate.
