Kick off your weekend on Friday, March 22, at MFA Late Nites! This after-hours party celebrates the new exhibition “Hallyu! The Korean Wave,” complete with dancing and DJs, pop-up performances, exploring the galleries, art-making activities, and more.

Spotlight Talk: Korea’s Last Dynasty

The Joseon dynasty, the last dynasty of Korea, is known for beginning diplomatic relations with the United States in the late 19th century. During this period, the traditional values of Korean Confucianism and the influence of Western culture coexisted in Korean society. Take a deep dive into the turbulent history of this time by looking closely at traditional hanging scrolls as well as a photograph of Percival Lowell. How can these objects and their stories help us understand Korean culture today?

Channel your inner K-pop idol in the 노래방 karaoke lounge with DJ Dayglow. Request a song, then pretend you’re on the South Korean TV program Music Bank and sing your heart out! Bring a drink into the lounge and try out new looks with fun props while you perform.
