Join us for a screening of James Cameron's "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991) at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, co-presented with the Boston Women's Film Festival as part of MFA Film's "Heroic!" series, highlighting real and fictional heroines.
In this sequel set 11 years after "The Terminator" (1984), Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) has been imprisoned in a mental hospital for her vigilante efforts to prevent a future robot uprising known as “Judgment Day.” Her 10-year-old son, John, the prophesied leader of the human resistance, is left unprotected and becomes the target of the liquid-metal, shape-shifting T-1000 (Robert Patrick), a Terminator sent from the future to kill him. Another Terminator, the revamped T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger), has been sent back to protect the boy. As John and his mother go on the run with the T-800, the boy forms an unexpected bond with the android. With a tough-as-nails heroine and the awkward charm of Arnold’s robotic one-liners, "Judgment Day" is a rare example of a sequel that surpasses the original.
Female film programmers in Boston joined forces to curate "Heroic!," a rousing series of films about incredible women. Featuring a constellation of real and fictional heroines from Ruth Bader Ginsburg to Moana, the series screens at the MFA throughout the month of August: bit.ly/2LVZZNs
MFA Film has joined forces with the historic Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square, which is also presenting films featuring heroic women this summer! Bring your ticket stub from any screening in our "Heroic!" series to the Brattle for a $3 discount, depending on availability.
