EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

Student-Led Exhibition Exploration

5–8 pm

Torf Gallery (Gallery 184)

Engage with the powerful art and themes in “Witnessing Humanity: The Art of John Wilson” and connect with other students through self-reflection, questions, and dialogue.

Music from DJ Dayglow

5–8 pm

Shapiro Family Courtyard

Dance the night away with tunes by DJ Dayglow, our resident DJ for MFA First Fridays.

Collective Mural Project

5–8 pm

Shapiro Family Courtyard

Gather inspiration from “Witnessing Humanity: The Art of John Wilson” to create small collages and add them to a communal mural. The mural expresses students’ collective vision of justice, equity, and inclusion, and draws on themes from the exhibition, such as racial identity, labor, family, and civic participation. This project is in collaboration with Everyday Democracy and Tufts University’s Tisch College of Civic Life.

Photo Booth

5–8 pm

Sharf Visitor Center

Snap a memory of your evening at our complimentary photo booth!

Sound Bites: Solaya + The Effect

6–7 pm

Gallery 168

Listen to Solaya + The Effect conjure immersive sonic landscapes by blending jazz concepts, folkloric rhythms, and electronic textures into a live, powerful healing experience. Led by Solaya’s self-produced compositions, the genre-transcending ensemble layers vocal processing, pedals, samples, and synths to create an all-consuming soundscape that invites listeners into deep reflection.

A fully Black and Caribbean group, these Berklee College of Music students are committed to preserving and representing their cultural lineage in every space they inhabit. Their performance draws from the current MFA exhibition “Deep Waters: Four Artists and the Sea” to explore water as both metaphor and vessel that carries memory, stories, and the profound knowledge of molecular ancestry. Through this dialogue with water, Solaya + The Effect channel music as a tool for collective healing and liberation.

K-Pop Random Play Dance

6 and 7 pm

Calderwood Courtyard (Rain Location: Gallery 250)

Participate in an eclectic celebration of K-pop dance and music from throughout the years. Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun—no dance experience needed! Hosted by Jamie Wong, dancer and one of the founders of Kosmic, a Boston-based K-pop dance crew.
