In a time when loose-leaf, orthodox tea was a rare commodity in the North American market, chefs and restauranteurs in the greater Boston region were championing a movement to bring quality ingredients with integrity into their dining rooms and kitchens. Enter MEM Tea–in 1999 we sold our first pound of tea out of our founder Mark’s house, just outside of Boston. Our timing was perfect, we were present to help those aspiring foodies achieve that goal in their beverage programs, enriching the lives of their valued customers. Our premium product selection quickly allowed us to become a mainstay in the greater Boston food and beverage scene.


Now, 25 years later we have collectively, more than 200 years of food service industry experience under our belts, and we've spent that time falling deeply in love with the miracle that is tea. We are a steeping giant! We have become the leading purveyors of loose-leaf for New England (and beyond) with the goal of spreading knowledge and providing the goods you know and love, to all who want it.


MEM has over 30 passionate staff members, over 1000 amazing wholesale customers, an exemplary tea shop with a huge selection of tea, a website that fulfills orders all over the nation, and a fiercely loyal retail customer base. We’ve just turned 25 years old and we could not be more proud of who we are now and where we came from. We couldn’t have done it without you, the lovely tea drinkers of New England.


All this to say: let’s party! We want to celebrate this momentous occasion with you! Come join us at Lamplighter Brewing Co, Saturday the 23rd, for a tea party (of course there will be beer too!).


Lamplighter will be serving up Bloom & Blossom - a golden ale brewed with our very own Red Zen and Linden Flower - and Group Theory - a wheat ale brewed with our Chamomile - along with the rest of their fantastic line-up.


We’ll be raffling off a few gift baskets of teaware with all proceeds going to the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition. We’ll also be serving some tasty free tea while doing some sloppy, under-the-influence teaware demos.
