Maybe We Can Help is a group of construction workers who have joined together to make devices to protect health care workers and first responders while they intubate COVID-19 patients.
This group was recently formed and has already secured enough plexiglass and other equipment that will allow 500 protection devices to be built -- which will be donated to hospitals and fire departments from Boston to New York.
It could not have been possible without the support of many people. The production of these devices will begin Monday, April 5th, 2020 with distribution to follow the week after.
Help Us Reach Hospitals In Need
The organization has already secured the materials necessary to produce 500 aerosol boxes with the ability to be sealed in the front, as well as the ability to allow healthcare professionals' access through the sides to help doctors during intubation.
Donations, materials and people have been secured. Production will begin ASAP with the first shipment of aerosol boxes ready to go out on April 7th and 8th.
Precautions to Ensure Sterile Delivery
The units will be sterilized and wrapped in plastic for delivery. They are being built in a 3k square foot state-of-the-art shop with two shifts per day. Workers are maintaining 20ft of separation at all times. They are wearing respirators, eye goggles, gloves and protective suits throughout the process.
