Don your finery and step out for a Bridgerton-inspired evening of dancing and merriment! This ball will feature country dances from the Regency period (late 18th and early 19th centuries). Decadent refreshments will be served. Beginners are encouraged to attend - all dances will be taught, and no partner is required!

FAQ:
What should I wear?
Guests are encouraged to come dressed in whatever feels fancy and elegant. Historical costumes of the early 19th century (as well as masquerade masks) will be admired but are certainly not required. We do recommend flat or low heeled shoes, as modern high heels are not conducive to historical dances.
Do I need to know how to dance?
As with all of our events, Footwork & Frolick welcomes beginner dancers and others new to historical spaces. Our goal is to create a friendly environment for engaging with historical activities, and with that in mind all of the dances for the evening are selected with beginners in mind. There will also be a workshop at the Groton Grange Hall on the afternoon of the ball for those who wish to try out the dancing in advance and meet other ball-goers.
How do you handle dance role names?
Note that at our events we use the terms “lead” and “follow” to refer to the roles in the dance. All dancers are welcome to dance either role regardless of gender identity or presentation, and you’ll often find members of Footwork & Frolick switching between roles throughout the event.
Do you offer discounted tickets?
Pricing is tiered to allow more people to attend our events! We offer $25 student tickets, $30 standard tickets, and $45 supporter tickets.

About Footwork and Frolick:
The Footwork & Frolick Society is a 501(c)(3) public charity located in The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Our mission is to promote historical education through the research, recreation, performance, and instruction of eighteenth and nineteenth century dance and other active pursuits rooted in the social traditions of the American Northeast.
We believe that everyone benefits from learning about the past in a hands-on format, and we are proud to contribute to the rich historical landscape in the area by running historical social events and sharing our research! Everyone should be welcome in modern historical spaces regardless of race, religion, gender identity or presentation. Our work is intended to make learning about dancing and movement in the past engaging and fun - not to mythologize the “old days”. F&F classes and events are open to all, and we do not tolerate bigotry in our spaces.
