The dictionary defines “labor of love” as work done for the sake of one's own enjoyment or to benefit others rather than for material rewards. In other words, sometimes we do things, not because they’re practical, but because we simply love doing them. Tell us about your labor of love at our monthly slam at Trident Booksellers & Cafe.


What is a Story Slam?


A slam is a contest of stories where people sign up on the night to tell a true five-minute story on the evening's theme. Ten names are drawn at random. A team of five volunteer judges evaluate the stories and select two people to advance to a semi-final in April, and potentially Massmouth's Big Mouth Off championship in May. The audience also selects a teller. Stories are judged on the following categories: connection to the theme, arc, presentation, overall impact, and how well it honors the time limit.
