Enjoy a beautiful bike ride in classic Martha’s Vineyard with calm bike trails and seasonal delights! 27 miles of biking with stops at a café, beach, and then dinner before the ferry ride back is the goal. Plan on seeing marshes, ocean, and even lamas at a local farm. We can also stop off at a brewery or take a short boat trip to a Buddhist garden.
Bike rentals are available. Do not forget to select one when signing up. We will do our best to take your own bike but cannot guarantee it. If you sign up, please know that you are doing so even if it means bringing your own bike. We will keep you updated if someone has a bike rack.
THE FERRY
The ferry leaves at 9:30 AM.
It costs $8.50 one-way; we suggest buying round-trip tickets to make sure that you can board the return ship without any complications. $4.00 for bikes. Cash or card. All of you can meet at the entrance of the ferry.
Departing ships from Vineyard Haven leave at 5:00 PM and 6:15 PM and later.
THE TRIP
1) Since the route of the ferry is from Woods Hole going to Vineyard Haven, everyone can meet at the Bike rental place at Martha’s Vineyard bike rentals
2) Ride along some beautiful Stop for coffee at Espresso Love
3) Head to the Mytoi Japanese garden; there is a ferry there that costs $6 round trip for you and your bikes. CASH ONLY. (OPTIONAL, please confirm with trustees)
4) Time permitting, feel free to stop by Katama Beach.
5) Head back to Martha's Bike Rentals to drop off the bikes. The shop closes at 5:00 or even later; call them during the day to ask.
6) Take the ferry back or, if you have time, pick up some food and have drinks.
Requirements:
You must be comfortable biking for long periods of time. This is 27 miles, so if you have not biked for some time, please go to the gym and see how biking continuously at a higher resistance rating feels. You must know how to ride a bike to attend.
