A new tea-focused bar and lounge called the Map Room Tea Lounge will open its doors on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.
With industrial accents and a cozy intellectual vibe, the Map Room Tea Lounge draws inspiration from the literature and innovation of the 1800s to create a salón for the modern world within the historic McKim Building of the Boston Public Library. Along with afternoon tea service, the Map Room Tea Lounge offers author-inspired tea cocktails (yes, that’s right—tea cocktails!) and casual a la carte options, like artisanal cheese & charcuterie and an inventive selection of tartines. Grab a seat in the lounge with friends or sidle up to their 10-seat tea bar, manned by a team of tea mixologists ready to craft you the perfect drink to fit your taste. In addition to a stellar menu and full bar, enjoy Wisdom Wednesdays featuring a visiting tea-leaf reader for insights from the bottom of your cup, and live instrumental music from local student musicians on Thursdays —starting later this spring!
NOTE: March 20th will mark the soft opening of Map Room Tea Lounge. A grand opening will take place on May 21st, once The Catered Affair at the Boston Public Library has completed a revamp of the entire space. (In addition to the Map Room transforming into a cocktail lounge, the main restaurant—The Courtyard Restaurant—will get a revamp as well.)
