This workshop explores concepts of movement in sculpture. With a true sense of play, 20th century artist Alexander Calder created works that both physically move and lend themselves to a sense of motion and balance. Inspired by works from the collection, participants will learn the basic mechanics of kinetic sculpture and construct their own free standing or hanging sculptures that balance and move.
deCordova is pleased to offer this creative workshop that celebrates kinetic sculpture and draws inspiration from artists like Alexander Calder and George Rickey.
This interactive workshop is open to all ages, but students under 13 must be accompanied by a registered adult. The workshop is limited to 12 participants and is offered via zoom. Students will receive the zoom link via email at least one day before the workshop.
