The Lydian Quartet begin by evoking the mesmerizing sound world of the traditional Chinese seven-stringed, plucked zither in Zhou Long’s colorful Song of the Ch’in. This program also continues the Lydian’s ongoing exploration of the string quartets of Henri Lazarof (MFA, 1959), presenting his final quartet (no. 11), titled Remembrances. Closing the concert, guest pianist Lois Shapiro joins the Lydians for Brahms’s Piano Quintet in F minor.
