Helena Citron was sent to Auschwitz as a beautiful young woman. There Franz Wunsch, a high-ranking SS officer fell in love with her and provided her with unlikely protection. They continued their forbidden relationship until the war ended and the camp was liberated. Thirty years later, Helena receives a letter from Wunsch's wife asking her to testify on Wunsch's behalf. Helena is faced with an impossible decision: should she help the man who brutalized so many lives, but saved hers?
