Please join local public art curators Now + There, Boston-born artist Liz Glynn, and their partners from the Public Art Fund and Paula Cooper Gallery on Thursday, July 26th, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm on Commonwealth Avenue Mall West near the Kenmore MBTA station for a free reception celebrating the opening of Liz Glynn: Open House, Now + There's latest public art installation.
This opulent yet uncanny installation transforms the space on Commonwealth Avenue Mall into an open-air ruin of a ballroom and is a contemporary, sculptural revision of a grand interior, featuring cast concrete recreations of lavish Louis XIV furniture and architecture. Glynn’s juxtaposition of extravagance and utilitarianism invites us to question who has access to space in a society that is increasingly divided along socio-economic lines.
