Is it too late to post a hike? Not if you want to do some leaf peeping. Now is the perfect time to go to the Whites and see the amazing colors.
In this hike we'll take Edmund's Path to the Presidential Ridge and climb up to Eisenhower. The hike along the ridge and up to Eisenhower is completely exposed so we get views all along the way. As an added bonus, Eisenhower is completely bald, having 360 views of the Presidential Range. If there's energy, time and interest we can climb over to Franklin, Monroe's neighbor. I've hiked this one solo and decided to come back during foliage season. I'd like to share it with you.
This hike is not technical, but there are steep sections. We will be going at a moderate pace. This is a group activity and if you can't be part of the group or feel the need to trail run, please consider another option. Also know that weather in the Whites changes suddenly and you should be prepared for cold temperatures, rain or even snow. It has already snowed on Washington which is one peak away.
Gear
You must have 2 - 3 liters of water, Trialrunners/ hiking boots (not regular tennis shoes - no exceptions), food, hat, glasses, electrolyte replacement (Gatorade, etc), a layer in case of cold, non-cotton socks, and a copy of the route as located on AllTrails or other similar source. Absolutely no jeans.
