The King’s Chapel Concert Series presents the Rowe’s Lane Quartet and special guests in a program featuring music by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-George, the 18th-century musical genius who was the first classical composer of African descent to attain widespread acclaim in European music. Born in the French colony of Guadeloupe, Bologne was a French violinist, conductor, composer, and soldier. His historical significance lies in his distinctive background as a biracial free man of color in the 18th century. This one-hour-long program includes works by his famous contemporaries: Haydn, Mozart, and Stamitz. Save $5 when ordering online.
