Violinist and faculty Julia Glenn and pianist Mika Sasaki reunite for an evening of powerful story-telling crossing centuries and musical cultures. The program includes Irving G. Fine Professor of Music Eric Chasalow’s The Wings That Bear The Night Away for Violin and fixed media (2022), three of Lera Auerbach’s 24 Preludes for Violin and Piano, Edvard Grieg’s Violin Sonata No. 2, a new work for solo violin written for Ms. Glenn by Lydia Winsor Brindamour, a movement from Olivier Messiaen’s Quatuor pour la fin du temps, George Enescu’s Violin Sonata No. 3, and the second of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Four African Dances.
