“CASH FOR CANCER” CONCERT SAT. JUN 23rd
JOHNNY CASH TRIBUTE BAND/CANCER BENEFIT AT WRENTHAM’S TAVERN
WRENTHAM — Counterfeit Cash, a Johnny Cash tribute band, will showcase their talent covering “The Man In Black” in a cancer benefit concert to be held at The Tavern at Wrentham on Saturday, June 23rd beginning at 8:30PM. Counterfeit Cash will be joined by Special Guest and 1950’s Recording Artist, Behon Herlihy, and “June Carter” will make a guest appearance. The musicians play a family-friendly, fun mix of music sure to inspire dancing at this free even to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Johnny Cash, country music’s legendary artist is considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, having sold more than 90 million records worldwide in his lifetime. His legacy continues as Counterfeit Cash covers Cash’s most popular songs, including “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Walk the Line,” “Ring of Fire,” “Hurt,” and “A Boy Named Sue,” and other favorites. The band features the smooth, low vocals of Rodney Brunelle as “The Man In Black,” Jim Sequin on stand-up bass, Clayton Willoughby on guitar, and Fred Wild on drums.
Special Guest Brehon Herlihy is best known as a 1950s and 1960s recording artist who played alongside Oldies musicians including Myles Connor, and was most notably instrumental in the recording of Freddy Cannon’s 1959 hit, “Tallahassee Lassie.” Herlihy recaptures the spirit of the shining post-war era.
The evening of music is rounded out by an appearance by "June Carter”—another well-loved country singer and musician, and Johnny Cash’s second wife—with a tribute performance by the talented Jorene Lange.
Tickets for a 50/50 Raffle, where prize money is evenly split between the raffle winner and American Cancer Society, will be sold in advance and during the event at The Tavern at Wrentham. Ticket prices are 5-for-$5 or 12-for-$10. In addition, the popular “Biscotti Hotties” Family Cookbook will also available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. There is no cover charge for this fun-filled event, but donations are welcome. Dinner specials will be offered in addition to the regular dining menu.
