John Nemeth and Bees Deluxe at the Bull Run, Shirley, MA. On Thursday February 27th, doors open at 5:30 pm.
Soul harmonicist, singer and songwriter John Nemeth comes to the Bull Run for a night of award-winning soul and blues. With nine solo albums released in the past eight years, Nemeth has earned his place among the blues greats and has played with Junior Watson, Anson Funderburgh and Elvin Bishop. He’s been called “a vocalist with great range, ability and soulfulness,” by Allmusic and has received Blues Music Awards for Soul Blues Male Artist and Soul Blues Album. His latest album, Feelin’ Freaky, fearlessly crushes all barriers of style and genre with original tunes that defy all the usual pigeonholes. Drawing from his roots in blues and R&B as well as hip hop and rock, Nemeth creates music that is personal, universal and highly danceable.
Blues Review described his performance like this: “..It was a surprising delight to find another American bluesman with a high-energy, full-flow take on the blues and a widely admired confidence and power that took the crowd by both storm and surprise. John Nemeth was, for me, the true show-stealer. His set was blistering and perfectly pitched while his own songwriting talents were also clearly unmistakable.”
Opening for John Nemeth is Bees Deluxe, Boston’s notorious acid blues band that last graced the Bull Run stage on New Year’s Eve when they opened for Roomful of Blues. Hell-bent on a mission to drag the Chicago blues and New Orleans funk into the 21st century, their virtuoso guitar work and repertoire of incendiary originals and innovative takes on lesser travelled tunes by artists ranging from Albert King to ZZ Top and will heat the room up before Nemeth's band sets it on fire.
