Jason & the Naya Rockers hit Next Page Cafe.
Jason Dick, former singer-songwriter for the reggae band High Hopes in the Boston area. Jason assembled and managed the High Hopes Band over the course of almost 10 years.
As half of the songwriting team of the High Hopes Band Jason (along with HHB) received the 2015 Best Band in State of Massachusetts award by the New England Music Awards. He has toured yearly on the East coast and in the U.S. Virgin Islands and has provided tour support in the Northeast & New York, to a variety of well known reggae artists such as Ziggy Marley, Easy Star All-Stars, New Kingston, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Morgan Heritage, Freddie McGregor, Maxi Priest & The Simpkin Project. He's shared the stage with Steel Pulse, Third World, Inner Circle, Yellow Man, Mighty Mystic, Dub Apocalypse, Soul Rebel Project & Midnite and as a freelance musician backed Yami Bolo & Fanton Mojah. In the Fall of 2014, the album release, "Forever Love," reached #35 in the Itunes top 100 all-time reggae albums charts.
Jason derives his sound from the paths of many golden-era reggae musicians — Jamaican artists of the late 60s-early 70s who drew upon the Motown, country/Americana, and rock & blues movements of their time — and aims to fuse that classic, orthodox sound with today’s current styles. The result is an amalgam of genres: sweet hints of R&B, soul, and country music matched with spicy influences from second-generation Jamaican musicians.
Jason is currently working with The Naya Rockers as a live and studio support band.
He is available for solo, duo or full band requests.
