Reeds player Jared Sims was a longtime fixture on Boston's jazz and funk scenes, playing in such bands as the Miracle Orchestra, Akashic Record and Dead Cat Bounce. Sims has performed live with wide-ranging artists including Han Bennink, Cecil McBee, Bob Brookmeyer, Stefon Harris, the Temptations, the Four Tops, Melvin Sparks, Soulive, Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers/Dead & Company), DJ Logic, Matisyahu, the 10,000 Maniacs, and Noel Gallagher (Oasis). His recordings include last year's Ropeadope release 'Change of Address.' These days, he's Director of Jazz Studies at West Virginia University. He maintains strong ties to his musical friends in Boston. For this Mandorla Music Series appearance - which will find him playing saxes, clarinet, and flute - Jared will be joined by guitarist Steve Fell, bassist Chris Lopes, and drummer Luther Gray.
