What is Japan Festival?
In 2012, the first Japan Festival Boston was hosted, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the friendship gift of cherry blossom trees from Kyoto (the sister city of Boston) to Washington D.C. The Japan Festival Boston gives us a chance to share our culture with the Greater Boston area, and we have been expanding this festival each year. The festival is completely organized by Volunteers (more than 380 volunteers in 2017), and supported by many sponsors and contributors of fundraising.
Mission Statement
• To show our appreciation and gratitude to Boston We appreciate Boston for giving us our homes, our unparalleled education, and thriving business.
• To introduce authentic Japanese culture, and to pass on our traditions to the next generation We would like to give every person a chance to experience authentic Japanese culture at ”Matsuri” (a Japanese-style street festival) without having to travel to Japan.
• To bring together the community as one We hope to develop a friendship with other communities
• To ensure that the Japan Festival Boston continues for the next 100 years and beyond
Together we can bring a fun, entertaining, and educational Japan Festival!
