Jane Jacobs, celebrated urban planner, flaneur, critic, and observer of the human condition drew on lessons from Boston's streets for her classic work "The Death and Life of Great Cities". Her observations have been debated for over sixty years and they have inspired others to transform their own cities, large and small.
Please join me as we tour Boston's North End and beyond to talk about her work, discuss some of her observations about the community, and gain a new appreciation for what's changed in the intervening decades. And along the way, we'll probably have a moment to chat up some locals and grab a pastry.
This tour is led by Max Grinnell, local author, historian and urban studies professor.
